The Peteyaz occurrence is located approximately 2.5 kilometres southeast of Peteyaz Peak, within the 1985 Peteka 3 claim (Assessment Report 14424). The geological setting is the same as the Bearnx occurrence (094D 003).

The entire Peteka 1-4 claim group is underlain by Lower Jurassic Telkwa Formation (Hazelton Group) volcanics. The volcanics predominantly consist of tuffs, agglomerates and andesitic grey to green rocks. Minor porphyritic (plagioclase and/or hornblende) flows and interflow sedimentary rocks are also present. Narrow quartz feldspar porphyry dikes, 1 to 3-metres wide, strike northeast and intrude the volcanic rocks. The dikes, fine to medium-grained, are possibly related to the Eocene Kastberg Intrusions (Assessment Report 14424).

Widespread mineralization is clustered around the plotted location for approximately 1 kilometre, along regional strike to the northwest and southeast. The style of mineralization is common to all the small occurrences with minor local differences. The sulphides are predominantly chalcopyrite and pyrite with associated specular hematite. Tetrahedrite may also be present. The mineralization occurs in silicified shear zones, in irregular quartz and/or carbonate veins and as disseminations in the altered host rocks. Malachite-staining and lesser azurite-staining is common. The host rocks are locally pyritic altered volcanics. Carbonate alteration, silicification, minor argillic alteration and chloritization are present. One of the best samples, from a silicified shear zone, assayed 8.25 per cent copper, 5.6 grams per tonne gold and 185.8 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 14424).

In 1996, sampling was done northwest of the Gossan zone in the area of the Peteyaz showing area, which is also just east or northeast of the West Ridge zone; sample RR 44 would be the closest to the Peteyaz showing (Assessment Report 24882, Figure 5a). RR96-44 is a 10-centimetre-wide quartz-carbonate vein, one of serveral veins over 8 metres, which contain from "1 to 5 per cent chalcopyrite". The sample returned only 0.056 per cent copper, and 0.6 gram per tonne silver (Assessment Report 24882, Figure 5a to c). Samples a few hundred metres east, southeast and northeast were considerably more significant in copper values.

The West Ridge zone is located immediately south or southwest of the Peteyaz showing. The West Ridge area is host to the only intrusive body of any size in the vicinity of the Chaco Bear claims (Figure 2, Assessment Report 25270). The intrusive itself is reported to be unaltered and non-mineralized though very minor veins of specularite were observed in a few localities. The entire west side of the west ridge itself is dissected by numerous small northeast trending shears that host a number of small streams in their upper portions, which are limonite stained with attendant quartz-carbonate-specularite and lesser chalcopytite veining.
